From Birth to Age 20
Did you know your brain started learning even before you could speak? And that it continues shaping itself intensely until at least age 20? Learning is not just about memorizing content — it’s about transforming your brain and body through every experience.
To learn is to become, and that process begins even before you know who you are.
The Body as Your First Teacher
From the moment you're born — and even in the womb — your brain is active. Every sound, touch, smell, temperature, voice, and even silence helps shape how it organizes itself. Through interoception (feeling your body from the inside) and proprioception (feeling your body in space), babies build their Damasian Mind — the base of consciousness that links body and perception.
This development is deeply influenced by environment: affection, rhythm, freedom to play, tone of voice, eye contact, or even absence of all that. The brain is like a living sculpture, shaped by care, movement, and trust.
From Play to Reflection: A Brain in Transformation
From age 0 to 7, the brain is in full expansion. Everything is a stimulus. The child learns emotional patterns, language, attention, and bonding through exploratory movement and the joy of discovery.
Starting around age 8, the brain begins to organize what it has absorbed. The child can now reflect on experience, handle rules, and compare situations. This is when the first Tensional Selves emerge — body-based ways of responding to emotions, tasks, and social environments.
From age 12 to 20, the brain undergoes massive restructuring: it prunes old connections and strengthens new ones. Think of it as a full renovation. Emotions become more intense, decisions grow deeper, and the search for meaning becomes central. It’s the perfect time to develop metacognition — thinking about what we think — and enter states of fruição (flow), where learning feels natural, not forced.
Learning Means Activating Avatars
Throughout this process, your brain activates several Neuroscience Perception Avatars — symbolic models that help us understand different layers of learning and behavior:
Brainlly processes stimuli — what you see, hear, and sense.
Iam connects emotions to memory and motivation.
Olmeca represents cultural learning, language, and territory-based knowledge.
Yagé allows for imagination, doubt, mental flexibility, and flow.
Math Heb organizes your Tensional Selves, shaped by internal and external forces like environment, DNA, and social bonds.
DANA embodies the living intelligence of DNA — how cells, rhythms, and environments organize life itself from within.
Real learning happens when these avatars work together. When you explore with your body, reflect with your mind, and feel safe to question and belong. But if your environment imposes too many rules, fear, or ideological rigidity, you enter Zone 3, where learning becomes mechanical — and critical thinking shuts down.
The Brain Learns Better with Freedom
To learn well, the brain needs safety, diversity, silence, movement, rhythm, and belonging. It needs space to ask questions, make mistakes, and discover things that matter to you.
Real learning happens where there is laughter, curiosity, collaboration, and embodiment. It happens when your whole self is allowed to be part of the process — not just your memory.
Question to Reflect On:
If your brain builds your way of seeing the world...
What kind of world are you using as material to shape your brain?
